Christmas Things

I have been plugging away on Christmas hats for the babies.  I received some adorable fleece preemie blankets from Nancy of the Preemie Hat Project last month, I have made matching hats to go with them and another dozen holiday hats. I need to get to work on newborn blankets too. I have only made one and have to put a border on the second one so I can get on to the next. Don't forget we are holding a newborn blanket drive all winter. Check out the previous post for details or just go to

Here are pictures of everything mentioned in the post.

Oh yeah, and a scarf for me!

Introducing Elvis!

This is the newest member of the family. He is a 6 year old akita. We adopted him 2 weeks ago from Big East Akita Rescue in N.J. He is a real sweet boy, very affectionate and playful. We decided we didn't want a puppy so an adult was the way to go. There are so many that need homes.

Goodbye My Friend

This past Monday I had to put my sweet dog to sleep. He had arthritis in his hips and back and couln't get around very well. We had to pick him up off the floor when he wanted to get up and had to hold him up so he could eat. It was the hardest thing I've every had to do and I miss him terribly.

I have decided to use the month of January to finish off my partial skeins. Most of them are bulky type yarns that I have leftover from other projects. I am also trying to do the same with my wool stash. So I have been making hats with the bulky and squares with the wool. I haven't taken picures of the squares yet, just the hats. So far I have finished 9 partial skeins. Not bad. Here are the hats,
