On a roll...

I've crocheted 2 more sweaters since my last post. I also started knitting one last night. The one with the dog buttons is purple. The camera doesn't seem to like purple.

Been working on my monkey socks. I'm up to the foot part of the first one. I'm not really enjoying doing the lace pattern. I was going to rip it out but I really like the look of the lace. I'm going to have to start the second one right away or it'll never get done.

I also knit a mans hat for the troops. It seemed like it would never end, I'm so used to knitting preemie and baby hats. Its been a while since I've knit one for an adult. Its navy blue so I'm not sure if it will show up in a picture.

And in sewing news, I found a box with all my scraps in it. I'm going to cut them up into 4" squares and try my hand at a baby quilt. I found directions for a simple "scrappy quilt". I made a six square wall hanging once so I know I can do it.

Well back to NASCAR and some knitting, its a stormy day here on Long Island.

Another sweater done...18 to go

I love this sweater! The last time I did it I couldn't do the lace so I just did it in stockinette. My count must have been off cuz this time it worked! This isn't a free pattern but if you are interested you can find it here. I think it is only $5 dollars. You can make 3 sizes, this is the middle size. It also has a hat and matching blanket. I don't hand knit blankets so I can't tell you about the pattern. But the sweater is easy and works up pretty quickly.

Yarn!

I got my order from knitpicks today. There are 2 skeins of Bare in Merino for dyeing. 2 skeins of Memories in Rocky Mountain Dusk, it was a clearance color. And 2 skeins of Palette in Merlot Heather. The Palette heathers are new. Now I can make a pair of Monkey Socks. I think I'm going to use the Memories for them. I can't wait to get them on the needles, that will be tonights project. I will get my charity knitting done during the day. I'll post pics of my progress tomorrow.

I Sew too....

I made these great DPN pouches. They were so easy. I used some scraps I had and part of a fat quarter (the floral print). Now they should store much easier. I just kept them in the packages they came in. The pattern is for 5" needles but mine are 7" so I had to adjust the pattern. She explains how to change the length. I also found it tricky to turn the narrow ones inside out so I made the seam allowance a little smaller.

the Moon

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.

The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

Peek-A-Boo

These are my neighbors sunflowers peeking over the 7 foot tall fence. My dad says he feels like he's being watched.

Pumpkin Progress

My gourds and pumpkins have really taken off. They grow about 6" everyday!! Those are sunflowers growing between the trellises.

Preemie sets

A member of our Hugs for Hope family passed away a few weeks ago. During the last week of her life she was concerned about who was going to make things for the babies. We are doing a memorial Preemie Blitz in her honor. She loved making things for preemies and donating to Southside Hospital.

I am making blanket and hat sets in her memory. Here are some I have done so far. The blankets are made on the knitting machine and the hats are hand knit.

Toys

I made these little guys for Marine Corps Kids, I have a bunch more patterns to try. They are just so cute and can be made in one evening.
For the bear I used Bernat Super Saver in Taupe. The bunny was made with Simply Soft Brites in Watermelon and the ears were made with an old skein of TLC Lustre I hat lying around. I don't think they make it anymore. But you could use the SS Brites in grape instead. Now I have to make one in boy colors.

You can find the bear pattern here.

And the bunny here.

Marine Corps Kids

Operation Marine Corps Kids was started to help new mothers whose husbands are deployed overseas. They will be sending care packages to the familes of these troops when babies are born. Hugs 4 Hope will be participating in this effort. I hope you will too. They are in need of baby blankets, sweaters, hats, booties and anything else new mothers need for their babies. They would also like to collect toys for older children. Please use soft acrylic yarns and pretty baby colors.

Knitting for Noggins

Arkansas Childrens Hospital is look to collect 30,000 hats by Oct. 14, 2007. Last years goal was 10,000 and they received 27,000! If we all send just one hat I'm sure we can meet their goal and maybe exceed it again. They are looking for all sizes from baby all the way up to adults. All hats must be new and handmade, please wash if you have pets or smoke. I like to wash all of my donations no matter where they are going. You can check out there site here knittingfornoggins.org.
This is a great chance to use some of those brighter, more colorful yarns you've been wanting to try. They love creative patterns and color combos so have fun and lets try to get as many hats to them that we can.

Sweater #3

Another sweater towards my goal. I really like this pattern, I used Pound of Love yarn and a G6 hook. I made the skirt part longer than called for in the pattern. It calls for 19 rows total and I did 25. I wanted a longer sweater more like a coat really. I also didn't do the sleeves in pattern, I just did 8 rows of DC.
I didn't have buttons that matched so I crocheted them. I used the same yarn and an E hook.
Buttons: Ch 2, work 6 sc in first ch, join.

I crocheted another sweater today, I have to weave in ends and sew on buttons. I'll probably make the buttons for this one too.

Ciao!
